Feedback from our readers and users

The August issue of "burda style" is now on the market and the editors are very pleased with all the positive feedback. Most of our readers are very enthusiastic about our new patterns. Of course, we would also be happy to hear constructive criticism ... so please keep writing. Tell us what you like especially well or what you think we might improve in the future! Our reader, Sarah B. from Switzerland, wrote us an e-mail, "Dear Burda Fashion team, What has happened? I used to be a Burda customer and was not satisfied. Last year I gave it another try and now I'm enthusiastic - especially about the last 3 issues. Wonderful ... great - keep up the good work. Thank you!"

The idea to update the look and the contents of our website is also meeting with approval, such as this feedback from Olya B. by e-mail, "Congrats with a new burda website! Happy for you! This is a great idea to combine to websites "fashion" and "style"! Congratulations! I am sure this upgrade will do it's job! Don't know where to write it so I just write it here ... all the best!" The planned changes also create questions, of course. Our relaunch blog will keep you informed about the developements at burdafashion.com and burdastyle.com but you can also use this opportunity (with the comments function) to ask any questions which you might have!

    Hi,

Though I've sewn when I was younger, never really made adjustments and sewed exactly from patterns without fitting with success. I'm now 56 now, not confident and rather a beginner with my sewing skills, though I can generally figure out sewing instructions if they are illustrated and detailed. What is delightful to me about Burda patterns is the feedback I read about from sewists on sewingpatternsreview.com who generally say that Burda is true to measurements and I am actually the measurements of Burda's size 38. So what I am suggesting, if not already provided, is as much guidance as possible to instruct beginning sewists and guidance in such a way that we can progress. Even a guideline/links of some kind from your site (great idea of yours combining everything in one site) educational, helping those like me to proceed step by step with confidence (planning to get back to sewing shortly). Wouldn't this be a win-win proposition for Burda and me both.

Hopefully I'd sew (more) using all that Burda has to offer.
    Thank you, Lynda

(Sorry, I haven't yet seen the August issue, but expect to in the future.)

As a long time reader of Burda I have have issues since 1998 here's what I love about your magazine: no ads in the English version of the magazine. I like the styles and use it as a sort of trend forecast. If I go back through an older version of the magazine I know I can find a pattern for that garment right inside the magazine, while other fashion magazines usually highlight expensive designsers clothing. Although I don't have a need for chilrens clothing patterns I don't mind them in the magazine as they are cute. What I don't want to see in this magazine are craft projects, especially the "paper needs patience" mobile. I had to double check that I was holding the Burda sewing magazine and not a craft magazine. If inclusion of these types of projects is needed please keep it on the website instead of using up 7 pages of a very expensive magazine. I do like the Trendy DIY page, also like the Take 1, Make 4 pages (could do without the cute grapfic page). What ever happend to the sewing course this month? A great reference of sewing different fabrics or sewing techniques. I'm also a member of the original BurdaStyle website and I'm looking forward to the changes.

    Sincerely
    Iva

I'm a newer subscriber (since Feb '09) and I love everything about Burda's clothing patterns. The fit and style is great. The children's clothing patterns are cute and I can't wait until my kids fit into the sizing. The clothing patterns in the August issue, though I haven't had time to make any yet, are amazing!

I agree with Iva about the craft projects. The cockroach decoupage & the stacked dishes candle holder are just weird. Please don't let these types of projects take focus away from clothing patterns. Also, what happened to the maternity issue?

    Thanks

There seems to be a new problem with the website. Since recently, when following a link (e.g. on a blog) to a pattern download, I'm redirected to this page telling me I need to be a member to download:
    http://www.burdafashion.com/en/Downloads/1333669.html

Making me aware I need to be a member to download is fine, but it would perhaps be better to do it in such a way as to allow me to actually find the pattern I was coming to your website for! I end up just leaving out of frustration.

    Thanks.

I like the August issue, please keep the craft and fashion tips section. Don't mind if you cut it shorter on some issues to keep more people happy but keep some of it. It's not always that one want or can afford to make a new garment. Sometimes and old favorite just needs that little bit of updating that comes with a bit of fancy trimming, applique, etc. My craftines extend to my house, I welcome ideas on that front. The kind of thing that crafty pages and or fashion customising are good for. I find them very inspiring. I still remember with fondnes one of the first issues my mother bought, it contained even dolls dresses. I would love to see that kind of thing in the magazine again.

Pattern no. 7664. Can anyone help me? the instructions are very cryptic, and i am a=having trouble with the attaching of the shoulder seams after the dress and lining have been sewn together. I can probably stumble through it somehow, but i would have liked better instructions. It took my a long time and many readings to understand the previous steps, and now this

I have not been able to find tissue or tracing paper wide and long enough to trace the patterns. Any help on what paper other U.S. use to copy the pattern pieces?
    Thank you.
